I have never laughed so much as I have making Mer Merica. As I watched the news, more ridiculous stuff kept happening. Instead of being embarrassed and disappointed, I now find ways to incorporate those events into comedy. My laugh lines are back, and my mood has improved.
Little Crash Bitty is what put me over the top. In Photoshop, I turned his neck into a spring. As soon as I did, I knew I had something. I wrote some quick dialogue and put my rushed Photoshop job through the Slop Machine, and I about died laughing.
There is a lot of “trusting the process” in humor. Humor is subjective. I would post the videos on my main art accounts to see if they resonated with people.
I heard crickets.
No likes or comments, but views. Lots and lots of views.
I had a lot of doubts. I felt like I was alienating myself. I knew I was alienating myself. But I put my faith in the process. I understood that I hold the key to the context. People were cautious and didn’t know where I was going with it.
Plus, some folks sent me encouraging DMs. Without those, Mer Merica would be in a junk folder right now.
Thank you all for trusting the process with me.
Mer Merica will be coming out this Midterm.
I like this version. It still sounds like you, but it reads smoothly and feels genuine.
I didn’t think the video generation could handle the physics, but it did. At that point, I wanted to test how far I could take it. So I created an action scene. To my surprise, it worked. It was then that I decided to keep going.
