Akashic 2017 2.1

Welcome back to the Akashic Stream.

It is 2017, and we’re opening the Starting Eye for a second journey into pareidolia, flow state, and the strange worlds hiding inside ordinary images.

This time, things get a little weirder.

We encounter a prophetic pitfall—a painting that seemed to predict a bad situation before it happened. There’s an enslaved elephant, a stuffed animal sitting quietly on a shelf, an underground cave system, a prophet waiting at a shrine, a wasteland worker, and a lone drifter wandering through the ruins.

Then we cut down a tree.

Where did it come from?

IT CAME FROM FLINT!

Somewhere along the way, we even find a nice little butterfly… and a snail from Russia that has been busy wrecking ecosystems on the West Coast.

Welcome to Akashic 2017 — 2.1.

This series goes back through my older artwork to explore how images emerged from textures, photographs, accidents, and the subconscious. There was no grand map. Sometimes I didn’t even understand what I had made until much later.

That’s the fun of pareidolia.

Pictures inside pictures.
Stories inside textures.
Memories, warnings, monsters and worlds waiting to be discovered.

Maybe we’re finding them.

Maybe we’re creating them.

Or maybe they’ve been sitting there the entire time, waiting for someone to look.

What is old is new.

What do you see?
