"I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold"

A Charles Demuth study of the, “I saw the figure 5 in Gold“.  When I learned this work was from 1928, I was blown away.  Many of the design elements and style did not go main stream until the 1940s and 50’s.  Demuth was ahead of his time and set a standard.  My impression is he was one of the first to bridge the gap between art and design.  I feel Demuth was not only a great artist but a pioneer in Graphic Arts.
