What started last winter as a simple invitation to model for a painting has somehow turned into something much bigger.
Upon Dark Waters started as an art project. We needed models, reference photography, poses, and compositions for a series of pirate paintings.
Then the ship started picking up a crew.
New characters appeared. Stories developed. Artists, models, photographers, entrepreneurs, and other creative people began bringing their own talents and ideas aboard.
And somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like just my project.
It became a creative playground.
That idea inspired our newest pirate shanty: “When Creative Souls Find Each Other.”
The song celebrates what happens when you invite other people into your imagination and then give them room to play. One person might bring the original idea, but somebody else brings a character. Someone brings a costume. Someone brings a camera. Someone brings experience, personality, talent, or an idea nobody else would have thought of.
Suddenly the world gets bigger.
And we’re still figuring out exactly what Upon Dark Waters is going to become.
That’s the fun part.
There are more paintings coming.
More models.
More characters.
More photography.
More stories.
More ridiculous ideas.
And definitely more pirates.
We don’t have a map.
We don’t completely know where the ship is going.
Perfect.
Huge thanks to everyone who has stepped aboard, trusted the process, brought their creativity, and helped turn a painting project into a growing world.
This is what happens when creative souls find each other.
