Today was busy. Loud. One of those midweek grinds where it feels like the world has a meeting on your calendar that you never agreed to.
Even with all the distractions, we made progress.
Most of today’s focus went into the pelican. The goal was to bring it up to the same level as the rooster. Somewhere along the way, though, the pelican had other plans. It didn’t just catch up, it passed the rooster. At this point, it would be interesting to see the two settle it in a painting contest.
Then another storm rolled through.
I guess you could call it Bertha’s Irish twin. Just enough wind, rain, and chaos to remind everyone that Florida likes to keep things interesting.
There was definitely a point today where I started hitting a wall. I felt a little like Charlie Sheen in Platoon, sitting in the jungle writing letters home to Grandma. Except instead of dodging bullets, I was surrounded by feathers. A rooster illusion, if you will.
Still, that’s the nature of these creative sprints. Some days you’re flying. Other days you’re just trying to keep moving forward one brushstroke at a time.
Even with the interruptions, we managed to lay in more details and keep the momentum alive. Every session adds a little more depth, a little more personality, and another reminder that these paintings are finally starting to become what I imagined when this challenge began.
Looking ahead, tomorrow may require a strategic decision. With only two days left, the bear and the dog fight might have to take a back seat while I push the strongest paintings across the finish line. That’s part of the challenge not just painting, but knowing where your time has the greatest impact.
The finish line is finally in sight.
Now comes the hard part: keeping my head down, trusting the process, and bringing these paintings home.
